Driessen Aerospace Group acquires Alcan’s airfreight container business
Driessen Aerospace Group N.V. acquired the airfreight container business of Alcan Inc, a global leader in aluminum and packaging, on June 1, 2005.

This acquisition gives Driessen accelerated growth and a leading position in the lower deck air cargo container market worldwide. In addition the combined knowledge base of Driessen and Alcan provides a good basis to continue the development of new designs in air cargo containers and pallets. Driessen will continue with the Alcan design under the Driessen brand name. Details of the transaction will not be disclosed.

Driessen has been operating in the air cargo container business since 1994 and produces a full range of cargo containers and pallets in its manufacturing facility in Bangkok, Thailand. The production of Alcan containers will be relocated to the Bangkok facility in controlled phases. The 23 employees in the Alcan airfreight container business remain at Alcan’s facilities in Singen, Germany.

The core business of Driessen comprises Galley Equipment, Galleys and Air Cargo Equipment. Driessen is the global market leader in galley equipment (trolleys, containers and other inserts) for catering on board of aircraft and a leading supplier of aircraft galleys and other interior structures. Driessen serves more than 280 airlines and all major airframe manufacturers. All Driessen activities are supported by 35 service stations across the world. Worldwide Driessen employs 1700 people in 10 countries.
